Case Study: Design & Fitout of Sporting Club, London

A Sporting Clublogo

Client: The Sporting Club London

Project: To Design & Fit a new training space in addition to The Sporting Clubs’ current 1-1 PT studio allowing for semi private & group training sessions.

Solution: Rigs were custom manufactured to maximise the already premium space within the facility. A 3m strip of turf  was the central component allowing for conditioning and sled work. With the rest of the facility being used primarily for strength training and covered with our anti-slip rubber flooring.

In February of 2015 we were contacted by Tim Keleher from the Sporting Club in London. Tim already had a thriving PT business but the opportunity came up to to double the size of his facility by taking on an identical unit above his existing premises. After some emails & Skype consultation regarding the project, Gregory then flew for a site visit in London with Tim discuss the project in more detail.

From measurements taken during the site visit, and a rough floor plan from Tim we were able to create a number of 3D Visuals to show Tim exactly what space he had, his equipment options, and how his gym would look.

It cannot be underplayed how essential this service was to The Sporting Club, as this particular old London building was quite unique in dimensions and layout.  Via our CAD software we were able to adjust the overall layout to ensure that all of the required equipment was inserted safely and left functional so as to cater for both semi private & larger training sessions.

Try before you buy: Before placing his order we invited Tim to come visit our manufacturing facility and test out some equipment here in Belfast at BLK BOX HQ. Tim flew in from London and was collected from the airport; fed and watered, before finalising The Sporting Club equipment order.  We even managed to get some training in!

It was important to Tim that he was able to integrate both small & larger group training into his business model to help attract more members. So much so that we decided it may be best to move his group training area to the ground floor and his PT studio upstairs. After measuring both floors we were able to obtain some architectural drawings to double ensure that our measurements were correct. The rational behind this was to reduce both the noise and structural considerations that come with installing suspended floor strength facilities.

The outcome of this project was was resoundingly successful, leaving all parties fulfilled and BLK BOX continuing forge strong relations and exceed client expectations.
